Anyone in a relationship needs to spend some time away from each other. It is very unhealthy if you will spend all your waking hours with the person you love. Independence is a sign that you are secure about yourself and with your relationship. You do not worry that your spouse could be with someone else every time you spend some alone time from one another.

When you begin a relationship or you start dating someone, you are already whole as a person. By being whole, it means that you have your own interests. It also means that you have set of friends whom you enjoy spending time with, and you have hobbies that you enjoy doing on your own. It does not mean then, that you will give up all these interests because of the person. A healthy relationship means that both of you can still pursue your individual interests away from each other. Below are some pointers on how to make a relationship last longer when it comes to alone time.

Get Quality Time Alone

Do enjoy your passion minus your spouse. If you like playing sports with your friends, go ahead and enjoy your day with your buddies. You do not have to feel guilty about it just because you want to have some alone time from your spouse, in the same way that your partner needs to enjoy her life with her girlfriends.

It will become very boring and mechanical once both of you start to deviate away from your personal interests just so you can be together all the time. In fact, it is exciting if both of you have different interests or passions because one can learn from the other. So if your hobby is cycling, then you can teach your spouse something about it and vice versa. You pick up some lessons from each other.

Take a Weekend Away

A very healthy advice from a relationship expert says that a couple must at least spend a weekend away from each other for at least twice a year. This is because you can think on how to strengthen your relationship by pondering on your shortcomings. The only way you can do that is when you spend regular alone time from your spouse. There are ups and downs in a relationship, and if you are all alone by yourself, you can look back on what is missing and on how to further strengthen the bond between the two of you.

Alone time is very important because it will not suffocate you in the relationship. In order for a relationship to be healthy, it is not enough that you are madly in love with one another, but you are happy because you have the freedom to pursue your interests, minus your spouse. You have to realize that space is important, in the same way as trust and forgiveness. Spending some alone time does not mean that you want to be away from your spouse , relationship is about enjoying life with the person you love and pursuing your interests on your own.
