Anthony Yeung

My name is Anthony Yeung, and I’m a fitness coach, writer, online consultant, sportsoholic, and nerd. I train in Los Angeles and work with clients ranging from a Grammy-winner to a renown surgeon to a C-Suite member of the Federal Reserve. I’ve also written for a few awesome fitness sites like STACK, the Personal Trainer Development Center, and – of course – ConFITdent.

The path to get here, however, was difficult: I spent most of my life skinny and weak. Sure, I went to my college gym like other dudes, but – like other dudes – I wasted my time with silly workouts and isolation exercises. I gained a little bit of muscle, yes, but I didn’t gain any strength.

After I graduated with a degree in Economics, I spent two years living in three countries (South Korea, Taiwan, and Australia), delving into lifestyle design, reading, and finding adventures. From being asked to leave the country by the Taiwanese government to partying with Mongolians, I did a lot.

But I also took control of my body. I started reading articles from famous coaches and studied the foundations of strength training. By the time I got back to America, I gained 30 pounds, looked better than ever, and decided to switch to fitness.

After becoming a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, I interned under Alwyn and Rachel Cosgrove at Results Fitness — I took every opportunity to learn, and they taught me everything. I also immersed myself with books, journals, DVDs, and seminars to elevate my craft.

Today, I specialize in movement-based strength and conditioning. I extensively use the Functional Movement Screen to build safe, effective, and comprehensive exercise programs that have helped all kinds of clients such as athletes rehabbing from ACL injuries to a senior recovering from a double-brain aneurysm.

Aside from fitness, I’m a devout Dodgers fan (as frustrating as that is), I run an apparel company called Ikigai with my Scottish friend, and I love rap music.

Looking back, I wish someone taught me the right way to train so I wouldn’t have squandered my youth. But I think that’s why ConFITdent is so great: we get to share that wisdom of fitness with other aspiring men. Fitness changed my life — and I hope it does for you, too.
