aphrodisiac

For millennia, mankind has looked for ways to strengthen the romance in their lives and increase their overall desire. They eventually found one and used it for seduction. It is called an aphrodisiac, and though its effects are questioned even today, they nonetheless exist.

What Is An Aphrodisiac?

An aphrodisiac is a substance that increases the libido in a person. It can be anything from a scent to a piece of food. Most commonly used in romantic situations, it is one of the main staples for seduction.

Even though some types of them can be found anywhere, the time of the year when they are most abundant is during Valentine’s Day. Many restaurants around the world dock itself out in dishes containing the strangest of ingredients, most some sort of animal genitalia. The general idea is the advertisement of these during a day of romance is to encourage couples into taking aphrodisiac-embellished food.

Many people nowadays find themselves lacking that certain something, that level of seduction or romance in their lives. It could be due to stress or lack of time, but as a result they look for ways to make up for this. Here is where an aphrodisiac enters.

The Types Of Aphrodisiacs?

There are several ways of categorizing an aphrodisiac. It can be based on their type, their function or their effect on the individual. This following list, however, is commonly used and easy to understand.

Chemical: This is the artificial source of aphrodisiac. Drugs for desire enhancement can be bought anywhere, one of the most common types being alcoholic beverages. The problem with these, however, is that too much of the enhancement tends to make a person’s desire go in the completely opposite direction.

Herbal: A natural source of aphrodisiac, they can be found in plants such as basil and cocoa. Some people choose to take them as they are, while others prefer to mix it in something else, like a dish or a drink.

Food: Also the natural source for an aphrodisiac, this type comes in many shapes and forms. Some of the most commonly known ones are chocolates, oysters and bananas. Their nutrient content is what makes them successful sexual stimulants.

Other aphrodisiacs used for seduction and romance include music, incense, and even simple poetry. The effect varies on the individual, as does the preferred type of aphrodisiac.

Do They Really Work?

According to experts, aphrodisiac does not increase sexual performance or the pleasure one may feel. However, it does positively affect a person’s libido. In any case, an aphrodisiac may work on the body in several ways:

  • They have effects on the mind.
  • They have effects on the body.

Some so-called aphrodisiacs have little to no effect and are classified as fakes. Yet others, like alcohol, are considered not worth the trouble. This is because of their very double-bladed effect: it lowers inhibitions, but also deadens the sensations, making any seduction hard to grab hold of.

Some experts say that there is no need for additional aphrodisiacs in your life just to up the romance. The advice of having good sleep, eating good food, and generally have a good life is already a good start to having a healthy libido.
