Experience the Marvel of Cave of the Crystal Sepulchre

For just $110 for a day trip, you will certainly have a lot of adventure going on in this long dark cave. Be ready to feel the slow rush of the chilly water inside this magnificent cave full of stalagmites, stalactites and relics of old Mayan culture.

Human Sacrifice

Shine your flashlight or headlamp on the human sacrifice that passed away a thousand years ago inside this cave. The bones will shine and sparkle because of the calcite crystals that have formed all over the skeleton of the human sacrifice. Because of this, the bones were preserved, making it possible for the visitors and adventurers to have a glimpse of the corpse of a sacrifice of one of the oldest groups of civilized people in history.

Not only one sacrifice can be seen here, though, as there are lots of skulls that can be found inside. Some sacrifices are even children, with ages ranging from one to three years old.

The Crystal Maiden

The most famous human sacrifice in the cave is the skeleton of an eighteen-year-old female that had her vertebrae crushed due to severe injury, which caused her violent death. The skeleton of this ‘Crystal Maiden’ has crystallized due to the calcite crystals that have enveloped the bones from the skull down to the bones of the feet.

Pottery and Other Artifacts

As stated above, there are also some artifacts that you will get to see inside this amazing cave. Pottery and other equipment used by the Mayans will be seen scattered all around the cave. These artifacts, however, are not allowed to be touched to preserve them. Taking pictures is not forbidden so whip out your cameras and video cams and take shots as long as you want.

Getting inside the cave is surely considered a fit travel since you will get a lot of exercise as you wade your way towards the inner part of the cave. Make sure that you get ready for the chilly water that may go up to your chest as you squeeze your way through rocks. Staying active will help you keep the chill off, enabling you to keep moving towards the deeper parts of the cave.

Some spots are shallow but always be aware since some parts might get too deep. Nonetheless, the travel will surely be a delight once you get closer to the artifacts.
