Don’t be governed by a bad day. Henrik Edberg talks on his Positivity Blog about how you can stop a really negative day from dragging you down.

Shake It Off

  • Physically shake it off. Start doing this by breathing deeply and slowly through the nose. Concentrate on the breathing for 1 or 2 minutes.
  • Strike a power pose for 2 minutes. Stand with your legs apart, hands on your hips, and look ahead with your head held high.
  • Do a 30-minute workout. This releases tension and makes you more energetic.

Sort Your Thoughts and Adopt a New Perspective

Look at the negative situation and ask yourself the following questions:

  • Is this situation important and will it matter 3-5 years from now?
  • Who else gets affected?
  • Is there one small step I can do today to alter this situation? What is it?

Accept the Situation

There are things you can’t change. In such cases, it’s best to just accept them. Accept the bad feelings that go with them, too. This doesn’t mean that you’re giving up, it merely sends a signal that you’re not feeding the bad situation with energy. By doing so, the negativity becomes weaker.

Sometimes, a bad day is how you make it.
