shrimp scampi

Win her over and fuel your muscles with this awesome shrimp scampi recipe. It’s a light and delicious dish that will impress the ladies and your friends. Rather than listing ingredients and cook times, we broke this out by steps due to the very minimal ingredients and the incredibly fast cook time. In addition, you are going to have to multi-task a bit, so we wanted to help outline the steps to make sure you are managing your time correctly.

Clean the Shrimp

You will need to get about a pound and a half of large raw shrimp.  Once you got your hands on the shrimp, simply use your fingers to pinch off the tail. You can remove the veins if you’re the type who deeply cares about looks, but if not  – don’t sweat it. It won’t affect the taste and it does take a lot of work to de-vein shrimp.

Flavor the Oil

Next, you have to flavor the oil. Pour about a third (1/3) of a cup of olive oil into a skillet or pan and keep that on low heat. As the olive oil’s heating up, you can add some minced garlic. Cook it and stir this mix only for about 2 to 3 minutes. Simple and straightforward, but this will give the oil a nice kick and a tasty touch.

The Good Stuff

Now we get to the good stuff. Raise the heat to medium-high and evenly distribute the shrimp into the pan. Add a touch of salt and pepper and use a spoon, if need be, to spread out the shrimp into a layer. You don’t want the shrimp to be piled because this would result in them cooking unevenly. Continue cooking the shrimp and they will start to turn pink/orange which only take a couple of minutes. Upon them taking color, flip them over to finish cooking. This should only take a couple of minutes – 2 to 3, tops. Keep an eye on the color of the shrimp because that would be the determining factor as they turn a pink or orange color. If the pan ever seems dry, just had a touch more oil.

Get Sauced, Scampi Sauced

Now it’s time to build the sauce. Stir in 2 tablespoons of water and 2 tablespoons of squeezed lemon juice (or you can also use white wine instead of lemon juice) and you want to cook until the sauce starts to thicken. This should be very quick. Approximately 30-60 seconds.

Garnish Your Shrimp Scampi

Lastly, for the winning touch, you want to sprinkle a little bit of parsley flakes or fresh chopped parsley leaves into the sauce. This will give it a pleasant garnish, nice flavor, and will make the dish look like it just came out of a Master chef’s kitchen.

Congratulations, You’re Done
