Health advisor, Dr. Mike Roussell suggests the following:
- Garbanzos: Mostly known as chickpeas, they contain both fibre and protein. Garbanzos are great when sautéed with chicken (sliced into small pieces), onions, garlic, and tomatoes.
- Lentils: Also a great source of fibre, and are best with salads.
- Black beans: Can taste bland and boring, but their simplicity allows you to incorporate them with almost anything.
- Peas: If you love mashed food, add mashed peas to your list, or pair them with your mashed potatoes and southern fried chicken.
