headbutt

Doing a headbutt on your opponent is quite a dangerous act. As this move can also bring injury not only to your opponent but to you as well, you should be very careful in doing a headbutt. This should only be a last resort and should be avoided at all costs to avoid fatal injury to you and your opponent as well.

Having the skills to headbutt like a fighter needs a lot of practice and discipline. Because the part that you will be using in performing the move is very sensitive, you need to know how to do it perfectly.

How to Do a Proper Headbutt

When doing a headbutt, you have to keep in mind that your head contains your brain and other sensitive parts such as the eye and the nose. They could be injured severely if you are not careful so be sure that you prevent them from being injured as much as possible.

Proper Timing and Coordination

Giving a headbutt like a fighter needs proper timing and coordination of your head, neck, hips and back. You should throw the headbutt using your hips and not your neck. The neck is a very sensitive part of your body so you might get injured doing so. It also doesn’t have much muscle so you won’t have much force when you use your neck.

Proper Pose

When you are about to give a headbutt like a fighter, you have to tilt your head slightly forward so that thickest part of your skull will hit your target – found at the hairline. Tighten the muscles of your neck and get your lower back ready to strike.

Remember to keep calm but tighten your muscles when you are just about to strike.

Hitting Hard

Launch your body forward using your hips and waist, targeting the nose or eye socket of your opponent. Use your weight to gain more force and momentum so that you will deliver a powerful headbutt. As you do this, make sure to clench your teeth and tightly close your mouth to avoid any injuries on your jaw and teeth.

Tips and Reminders

  • To give a headbutt like a fighter, you should practice often. You should train your muscles so that they will be rigid and would enable you to land a powerful headbutt.
  • Never target the forehead or brow of you target. They are the hardest part of the head and hitting them will only result into you getting injured as well. You might get a concussion if you do this.
  • Never nod when you give a headbutt. When you want to give a headbutt like a fighter, you need to keep your neck rigid so that the force of your hips will flow to your head. It will also prevent your neck from getting injured.
  • Do not imitate the movies where the characters give headbutt by nodding their head on their target’s forehead. This is just for effects and would never be successful if done in real life.
