facing your ex girlfriend

Facing your ex girlfriend is hard to do, but not as hard as seeing your her at a party. Playing it cool and taking the higher road isn’t always easy. We all wished that our relationships would end with a motorcycle ride into the sunset with your girl grasping you from behind. It’s somewhat a modern tale of Cinderella and prince Charming.

Sadly, perfect relationships often don’t exist and people will get emotionally hurt when things do go down the ugly road. If a break up wasn’t bad enough, facing your ex girlfriend could prove to be a difficult task, especially since you have mutual friends.

Things can get awkward and ugly; the outcome however, lies in your hands. So here are rules to play if you don’t want to create a crazy ex girlfriend.

Facing Your Ex Girlfriend

Give it time

  • The common thing to do when you lose something valuable is to try to look for it. While this might seem rational when the things are items or valuables, it doesn’t apply to relationships.
  • Going through a break up is tough and it leaves both you and your ex girlfriend in an emotional wreck. Trying to fix things immediately will only make things worse.
  • The wiser decision is to give your ex girlfriend some time. If you live together, it’s time to move out. After all, who wants to live with their ex girlfriend when they would be constantly shouting or stalking your every move?
  • Broken relationships are like hot coals, it’s easier to handle them when things are cooled off.

Keep Conversation to Small Talk

  • Crazy ex girlfriends can be created through provoking and daunting conversations that happens between the two of you.
  • You should know that conversations with your ex girlfriend can get awkward at times. So if you see each other at a gathering, keep the conversation light to avoid any unnecessary awkwardness.
  • Try avoiding all topics that could be related to your past relationships and private life. A rule of thumb is to never ask any questions that you don’t want the answer to or would not answer if being you were being questioned.

Don’t Flaunt Your New Relationship

  • It’s common to boast about a new toy or a new  gadget. However, it is important to never flaunt your new relationship to your ex girlfriend.
  • Taunting your ex girlfriend by showing off your new partner is a recipe for disaster. It’s like Loki and Thor boasting of their physical prowess, and it ends in wreckage of the Aasgardian Kingdom. But in the case of an ex girlfriend, the wrath could be greater than any Norse god you can imagine.
  • If you bump into your ex girlfriend with your new partner, apply rule 2 and keep the conversation short. Flaunting your new partner makes your worse than a pre-pubescent kid, sometimes it’s better to have some class, man up and shut up!
