iced coffee

When drinking iced coffee, you want to enjoy the taste and savor the experience. So, you will likely take small sips instead of gulping all the contents of your glass in one chug. But, the problem with letting your coffee sit for more than a few minutes is that it is being watered down by ice cubes, hence, ruining the taste.

This coffee disaster can be prevented by a simple trick. So, read on and find out how you can make the perfect iced coffee that doesn’t water down even during the hottest of summers.

Making Great-Tasting Cold Coffee

When making cold coffee, it is important to consider the ice that you are using on your coffee. Well, there are no big tricks in making your coffee taste great even when the ice starts to melt. You just have to make a cold brew, which you will use to make ice. The ice, which is made from coffee, will melt into, of course, coffee. This will result into not having more water into your cold coffee. It’s just like adding more coffee into your drink when the ice starts to melt.

To make coffee ice cubes, read the instructions below.

Grab Everything You Need

You will need 1/3 cup ground coffee and 1 ½ cups water. Remember that the water doesn’t have to be hot, room temperature will do.

You should also get a piece of cheesecloth, a strainer and a bowl for your iced coffee.

Steep the Ground Coffee

Steep the ground coffee on water for about 24 hours before straining it on the cheesecloth over a strainer, which are placed on top of a bowl. If you can’t find cheesecloth, you can use other types of cloth, such as a cotton handkerchief, to strain the coffee mixture. The strainer will not be enough to strain the coffee mixture so use a cloth.

Pour on Ice Cube Trays

Pour the strained coffee mixture on ice cube trays and place them in the freezer. Because the steeping process takes a while, it would be great if you would make a large batch and store them in your freezer. The coffee ice cubes can last up to three months so no need to worry about them going bad soon.

This will allow you to have enough ice for your iced coffee anytime, especially when your buddies or your girl suddenly decide to come over.

Use the Ice Cubes on Your Iced Brew

After the ice cubes are frozen, you can now use them on your cold coffee. Just throw some on your glass and pour your cold coffee for a nice glass of iced coffee that stays tasty.

If you need to use your ice trays for regular ice cubes, it would be ideal to put your coffee cubes inside zip lock bags and store them in the freezer. This will allow you to store your coffee ice cubes while being able to still use your ice cube trays on other stuff.
