intermittent fasting

Intermittent fasting is a fasting pattern that is controlled and is best utilized with an alternating method between fasting and not fasting. Intermittent, literally means, not to eat. Most people when they are hungry consume the foods they could easily grab or get their hands on. This would include processed foods, junk foods, and often foods sold in fast food chains. Wherever your paths may take you, we seem to always be surrounded by all sorts of processed foods.

We take in three main meals within the day and for most people, these three primary meals are not enough. We are headed into the direction of feeding ourselves more each time within those three meals as we experience hunger or severe cravings. We know that this practice is a big mistake, but the hunger feeling usually makes us desperate to settle for any type of food.

Where Does Intermittent Fasting Fit In?

This is where intermittent fasting could come in. Intermittent fasting often has guidelines where you should fast for X hours (let’s say 20) followed by a phase of non-fasting for Y (let’s say 4 hours). Oddly enough, this will really help you stay disciplined when fasting and will result in a boost in willpower as you resist the temptation of eating.

Intermittent fasting does not imply that your stomach cannot have anything at all within a specified schedule of fasting. Rather, an intermittent fasting diet permits water or any other kind of a healthy drink which does not have calories (like black coffee). However, water is the most suggested beverage to be taken together with this kind of diet that focuses on shedding body fat.

Water could function in many positive ways within your body. It can clean your body and could assist in flushing out all unhealthy foods and excess nutrients within your body. There are numerous researches and scientific studies which can prove that intermittent fasting really is beneficial to your health. Always bear in mind that our ancestors did not take in foods from fast food chains, street meat, and those that are considered junk. What they did was consume drinking water to be able to relieve their hunger.

While intermittent fasting is excellent, this is not suggested for just any person. This is good only for individuals who are generally considered healthy.

Our Take on Intermittent Fasting

Altogether, intermittent fasting has proven to help humans live longer with a similar focus to that of caloric restriction. However, if we had to recommend one diet for everybody, we would advise to eat 5-6 meals per day. While that sounds overwhelming, a serving of Greek Yogurt with some fresh berries could count as a meal. This will keep your body satisfied without feeling full to the point of discomfort or hungry to the point where you are making unhealthy decisions based on food that is available.
