Justice League of America debuted on television in 1997. Now, feelers are out that the DC Comics superheroes will hit the silver screen. In a recent scoop, IGN AUS Entertainment Editor Lucy O’Brien discloses that the movie version is slated not in 2018 as initially rumoured, but in May 2017 with Batman vs. Superman director, Zack Snyder at the helm.

Greg Silverman, Warner Bros’ president of worldwide production, confirms the JLA invasion following the footsteps of Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016. The movie will be flanked by Hollywood biggies: Ben Affleck (as Batman), Henry Cavill (as Superman), and Gal Gadot (as Wonder Woman).

Hollywood’s inside sources leak the supposed DC Comics movie roadmap which has the much-awaited Batman vs. Superman in the opening salvo. Cinematic adaptations of Shazam and Sandman will follow the first film in the same year. JLA apparently will hit the big screen by May 2017, and Man of Steel 2 in 2018.

The JLA movie will serve as a broad plot where the DC Comics characters can make introductory cameos as preparation for bigger solos. Tying together the prior announcement about Ray Fisher being cast as Cyborg in the Batman-Superman flick, and the rumor of the JLA motion picture adds credibility to the latter.

Sue Kroll, Warner Bros president of worldwide marketing, says that WB welcomes the idea of giving Wonder Woman her big solo, but the right script hasn’t come along yet. Shazam, Metal Men, and Sandman will definitely be ahead, but WB is quiet on the DC Comics’ official release dates to cinemas.
