Everyone loves a good plate of pasta with some nice meat sauce. It is a classic Italian dish and there really is quite nothing like it. Italian cooking is very rich in flavors because of the combination of fresh vegetables and herbs, making the food very tasty and nutritious. If you’re eating clean, we recommend cutting up zucchini into thin narrow strips or using spaghetti squash in place of pasta.

Ingredients:

  • Garlic, chopped
  • Red onion, diced
  • Celery, cut into small cubes
  • Carrot, cut into small cubes
  • Fresh sage and rosemary
  • White wine
  • Red wine
  • Tomato paste
  • Marinara sauce
  • Home-made pasta noodles or spaghetti squash

Procedure for the Meat Sauce:

  1. The first step is to cook the vegetables in olive oil. These are the onions, celery, carrots and garlic. Stir them for a few minutes and once the onions turn translucent in color, add the fresh sage and rosemary. You can use the bottled or dried herbs.
  2. De-glaze by adding some white wine. You need to de-glaze because when you caramelize the onions, the bottom of the pan turns brown and that is where the flavors are and by de-glazing, the flavors are released. The fresh vegetables and fresh herbs are packed with so much flavor and they make the pasta sauce taste bolder.
  3. Add the ground beef to the pan and stir awhile.
  4. Add some good red wine. The rule of thumb to follow is that when you enjoy the taste of the wine, then you can use that for your cooking.
  5. The next step in the meat sauce recipe is to add the marinara sauce. You can prepare it yourself the day before or you can buy a bottle from the grocery. Stir and add some tomato paste which will add a bolder tomato flavor and it will add a velvety texture to the sauce. Tomatoes are very rich in vitamins A and C, so this pasta dish is good for everyone, even for children.
  6. Cook this for 15 minutes over low fire and your meat sauce recipe is done.
  7. Add the fresh pasta to the sauce or pour the sauce over spaghetti squash and the dish is ready to be served.
