meditation

A recent study conducted at Johns Hopkins University confirmed that meditation, like what practitioners of this medium have long professed, can help relieve anxiety and depression. Information gathered from 47 earlier findings concerning well over 3,500 participants reveal that 30 minutes of daily meditation alleviates warning signs of anxiety by around 10 %. This daily meditation also alleviates up to 20% of depression, which is highly comparable to a good number of anti-depressant medications.

While researchers have discovered no quantifiable advantage for sleep, eating habits, or substance abuse, meditation can be used prudently to combine with – but not in place of – other therapies and treatments including medications, according to lead author Dr. Madhav Goyal.

Another astounding discovery brought about by the study, which can be read from JAMA Internal Medicine, was that most of the participants benefitted from meditation with consistent effects, despite the little amount of meditation training provided to them.
