men's blazer

A blazer is not a jacket, neither is it a suit. It is somewhere in between and it can be worn in a casual get-up of jeans and shirt or in a formal occasion. Men’s blazers are worn in order to upgrade your image. It’s an instant upgrade if even if you’re just wearing jeans and a simple t-shirt.

How to Choose the Right Blazer:

Size Matters

Always choose a blazer that fits well in the shoulder area. If it is too big or too boxy, you will only look like someone who is fixated to the style of the 80’s which is not exactly old-school cool. Blazers need to accentuate your figure, regardless if you are overweight or not. It should fit close to the body. The cuff should end half-inch to three-quarters of an inch before reaching your hand.

Vents

Some styles of blazers have single vent, others have two side vents, and other styles have no vents. The most common is the single vent, although it is much easier to move around with blazers that have double vents.

Breasts

Nope. Not those breasts – although we do love them. There are single-breasted and double-breasted men’s blazers. The latter is designed for a more formal look. Opt for single breasted to keep things what we like to call “upgraded casual.”

Buttons

Blazers come in single or double buttons. The blazer that is made with double buttons is usually the more classic when compared to the single button type of a blazer.

Color

As much as possible, stay away from the crazy trendy colors of blazers. Trendy fashion comes out of style after a season or two. Stick to the classic colors of blue, black, and tweeds. Reason being that they will never be out of fashion.

Blazers are fairly expensive, so it is smarter to buy the ones with classic colors. Keep it timeless and they will last you a long time. Personally, we think that every guy should own a navy, brown, grey, and black blazer. You don’t need to go crazy with designers and can probably get one at TJ Maxx, Century 21, Marshalls, Express, H&M, or Uniqlo on the cheap.

Material

Blazers made from linen are ideal for hot weather. They are lightweight and breathable. Blazers made from wool or corduroy are more ideal during cool weather. They are made from a thicker fabric and it will be perfect if paired with jeans.

Blazers are not suits. Do not make the mistake of wearing a blazer with a trouser with the same color. It will only look like a cheaper version of a suit. Blazers are best worn with jeans or any other type of pants, provided that they do not match the color of the blazer.

Ready to upgrade your wardrobe? Blazers can be worn in any occasion, whether in a formal or casual gathering. There is also no problem pairing it with different types of shoes. You’ll look like a stud with leather shoes, boots, and even sneakers. It will upgrade your look and make you appear more fashionable. Invest in a good quality blazer because it will never go out of style. When dirty, dry clean it to keep it looking fresh.
