Bananas are super healthy and a great source of potassium and an energy boost…but just nomming them down every day on the way to the gym can get a little boring. Here are some other ways to work them into your diet that are tasty and way less boring.

Chocolate Dipped Banana Bites

Need a healthy dessert option? Or a healthy mid morning snack option? Chocolate dipped banana bites just taste decadent but are really pretty healthy. Extra points if you use super dark unprocessed chocolate or cacao. All you have to do is melt up some of the sweet stuff, and then dip banana slices into it so that half gets covered. Place them on some wax paper and pop them into the refrigerator to cool, and then eat. One banana and two tablespoons of chocolate chips will clock in at around 200 calories, and unlike most other sweet treats will actually fill you up.

Banana/Nut Butter

Instead of eating banana whole, how about blending it into a butter to be used as a topping anywhere you might use a nut butter? Making a banana and nut butter blend will cut down on some of the calories of straight nut butter as well, which is good if you like to spread a lot on and sometimes go a little overboard. To make banana nut butter, all you need to do is mix them together in a blender or a food processor. You can make up a single serving, or a couple and store them in a jar in a refrigerator. You can choose your own amounts here, but going with a couple tablespoons nut butter with half to a whole banana should make a pretty tasty spread. Just think about how much easier it will be enjoy this mixture on a sandwich then it is to eat a PB and sliced banana sandwich.

Banana Guacamole

Yeah, it sounds pretty weird we know, but it is very tasty. Your best bet is to make some guacamole from scratch and add in a ripe banana. Mix up an avocado and your preferred measurements of garlic, onion, lime juice, sliced tomatoes, hot pepper, salt, and a bananas. Eat as you would normally eat guacamole with chips or even as a salad topper.

Banana Chips

Okay so banana chips aren’t disguising the banana in any way, but they do keep better than just sliced bananas and are way easier to carry around as a snack. They’re also really easy to make at home. Plus, you can make banana chips out of bananas that are already brown which is a big bonus if you tend to buy bunches at a time and never get all the way through them. The key is to bake them a low heat for a long time so that they oven acts like a dehydrator. Try thin slices for an hour and a half at 250 degrees F. Before you bake them, lightly brush the banana slices with some lemon juice and sprinkle on cinnamon and salt. This will help them crisp up and get pretty tasty in the process.
