If you travel to Central America and you want to learn the rudiments of jungle survival, then take an adventure course and experience for yourself how it feels like to live in a jungle with nothing but your guts and an experienced guide. This course is for the fit and active individuals. This is a fit travel adventure so be ready for the challenges.

A Word of Advice

It is recommended that before embarking on this course, you have polished your skills on swimming, trekking, and walking. You will pass through rough terrains with some heavy loads, plus it would be easier for you to adjust to the harsh tropical environment if you are physically active.

If you travel to Central America, the jungle survival course would normally take up to two weeks. You will be living in the deep Amazonian rainforest where there are wild animals. There is no bed but only jungle hammocks to rest in at night. You will hunt for food and cook them using the ancient ways of cooking. You will also feel isolated in the jungle, so it is also a test of mental stamina. So if you are brave and gutsy, go ahead and live in the jungle with guides who will make your experience a memorable, rewarding, and safe one for you.

Full Survival

You will travel to the remote jungles of Guyana with a professional guide who will begin to teach you on how to feel comfortable in the jungle without the comforts of modern living. You will be given a kit for your jungle gears. You will be taught on how to use these gears which will take about two days.

The Training Phase

You will begin to set up your basha and hammock site which you will call your home for the next two weeks. You will also learn how to hunt for food, where to look for water, how to set up a fire without a match and cook your food. You will also learn which bugs are safe to eat. You will be taught on how to fish for a piranha, how to recognize a water vine, how to use a bow and arrow for hunting, and so much more. You have to remember how to perform all those skills because you will be left on your own with a buddy pair and survive the jungle without the guide of a professional.

The Isolation Phase

Once you learned all those skills, it is time for you to be left alone with your buddy pair. This is an ultimate travel adventure so be prepared to have nothing but the skills you learned from a professional tour guide. You will be transported to a new jungle where you’ll apply all the skills you learned from the training phase. This is now all about your willingness and your drive to survive in a jungle, and your physical and mental toughness will be tested.

After few days in the jungle, you will travel back to the eco-lodge with your professional guide.

  1. What an incredible experience. It sounds like a very well thought out course. I especially love the “hope you have this down” phase at the end to prove that you can do it. What a confidence builder. I live in Costa Rica and while I am in the mountains near a town I think a something like this would be great to have if one were to get lost on a hike.
