Spring ushers in the glorious wedding season. Being invited to attend weddings can be logistically draining on your part. Men usually fret about what to wear from head to foot, and of course, the style. Don’t swipe the credit card yet. It’s rather demanding, but given a few fashion tips, you can make it to the wedding without much cash or fanfare involved.

  1. Don’t buy a tux. Even when the invite reads “black tie” across the word “attire,” you don’t have to splurge, buying a costly suit you’ll rarely wear. Save your precious resources for more important occasions. Instead, you can get one from inexpensive and most convenient rental services, like TheBlackTux.
  2. Wear a textured shirt, such as colored chambray. Wear a dark tie with it. You’ll look more like you’re attending a wedding party rather than being in a wedding party. Enjoy the party.
  3. Avoid dark aviator sunglasses and those with reflective lenses. Instead, wear frames that are clear or lighter colored, with more regular and circular shapes.
  4. Wear more casual and fun shoes. Your footwear doesn’t need to be all pointed and shiny; don’t wear the stern business shoes that bring you to the office every weekday. Have fun with boat shoes or brogues, instead. Wear the latter with colorful socks, and have fun stomping on them on the dance floor.
  5. Weddings are occasions when two pocket squares are better than one. Don’t wear them in your breast pocket simultaneously, of course. Keep the other as a spare. You’ll find it handy when your date cries a tear during the vows. Offer your pocket square to the crying damsel, and replace your empty breast pocket with the spare.

Don’t stress over wedding invites the next time you receive one. Take it as a time to have fun and enjoy dressing up. With these simple tips, that won’t be difficult.
