Joel and Ethan Coen

The Coen brothers make up the American duo that has won several Oscars in their capacity as screenwriters, directors, editors, and producers.  Their films range from comedy (Raising Arizona and The Big Lebowski), crime dramas, and Westerns. No Country for Old Men gave them their first Academy Award for Best Director. The brothers’ other landmark and award-winning films are: Fargo, O Brother Where Art Thou?, The Man Who Wasn’t There, True Grit, and A Serious Man.

David Fincher

Fincher’s directing career blossomed in the field of video music, where he started in the mid-80s (Rick Springfield’s State of the Heart, Aerosmith’s Janie’s Got a Gun, and Rolling Stones’ Love is Strong). His movie directorial debut, Alien 3 in 1992, earned him an Oscar nomination. His first nomination as Best Director in the Academy Awards came with The Curious Case of Benjamin Button in 2008. In 2010, he came up with the multi-awarded The Social Network that brought him another nomination in the Academy Award for Best Director.
