A young Fidel Castro appeared for an interview in 1955 in New York. Later, in 1959 he became the Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba until 1976 and from 1976 to 2008 he was the President. He was also the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (1961 – 2011). Supporters loved him for his economic and social justice, while the critics saw him as a dictator that didn’t care about the human-rights abuses.
