bruce lee legend

In his PositivityBlog article, Henrik Edberg writes about Bruce Lee’s take on life and how it should be lived. As a world-renowned martial artist, fighter, and actor, Lee brought glory to Chinese martial arts through Hollywood. Not only that, but he also dabbled in life-shaping fundamentals.

Below are some of his thoughts and their usefulness to getting your life in shape.

What Are Your Thoughts Today?

You are what you think. Do your thoughts jibe with your plans for the life you want for yourself? This wonderful quote, “As you think, so shall you become,” can be of great help in keeping your thoughts on the right track.

Simplify

Lee says that you’ll never get a thing done if you spend too much time mulling it over. Over-thinking wastes your time and drains your energy. It clutters the mind and eventually results in procrastination.

Interact and Learn About Yourself

Study how you act, react, and interact with others: it teaches a lot about you. Self-awareness is a valuable element in personal growth.

Do Not Divide

It’s tempting to project ourselves as being better or cooler than others. Lee says not to divide; don’t be for or against. Recognize that you have your share of limitations and strengths, as others have theirs. This powerful thought is actually easier said than done, but it’s something attainable.

Don’t Depend On Affirmation From Others

Lee presses that we’re not in this world to live up to other people’s expectations. You probably crave validation from others because you want to feel smart and successful. This allows other people to control how you feel, and this introduces instability into your life. Develop self-validation and be more confident for it.

Be Proactive

Don’t simply react to your environment. Instead, act and create circumstances. By simply drifting with the circumstances created by your surroundings, you’ll feel powerless. On the other hand, living proactively is more constructive, exciting, and rewarding. It makes you become more creative, building opportunities for yourself and deciding the path you take.

Just Be Yourself

Be the real you; all 100% of your words and deeds! You can do a little dividing or get a little validation from others, but never let your ego get the best of yourself.
