Check the Diamond’s Rating Based on the Four C’s
A diamond must be rated in terms of its carat weight, clarity, color, and cut quality. You’ll find how the gem rates in a grading report issued by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). The report will further reveal if the stone went through laser-drilling to cover up flaws, or if it was subjected to high-pressure, high-temperature treatment to enhance its color grade. It must be noted that while both processes improve the appearance of the stone, they don’t affect its quality. If you have reason to doubt the authenticity of the report, ask for a second appraisal from a trusted jeweller.
