We don’t suggest avoiding carbs completely since they can be a very good source of energy and we need at least some of them, but if you are trying to cut back and not make them the main focal point of every meal then you still want to make sure that you’re getting plenty of fuel. Here are some low carb breakfast options that will still fill you up.

Greek Yogurt Mix

A lot of yogurt is full of sugar, but Greek yogurt is not, and it’s full of protein while still being low calorie. Since Greek yogurt is not full of sugar it lends itself to a lot of savory dishes as well. Try topping some off dried chickpeas for a unique twist on a breakfast that will give you tons of protein to start the day.

Egg Topped Salad

Salads don’t have to be reserved for meals later in the day. They can be the perfect amount of fiber and volume to keep you full in the morning as well, and topping one off with some eggs cooked to your liking is the best way to add in the much needed protein. You don’t even need any dressing since the egg yolks and/or oil remnants should be plenty. But you can also experiment with options. This doesn’t necessarily have to be a lettuce type of salad either, you can put eggs on top of sliced tomatoes for a simple low carb dish as well.

Avocado Bowl

Cut an avocado in half and remove the pit and you’ve got yourself a natural bowl. One common dish to make is to fill that hole with an egg and then bake the whole thing to perfection, but you can also fill it with seeds, goat cheese, salsa, or anything else you can think of. The avocado gets to be the star of the show and with all that healthy fat it will keep you full for hours.

Tofu Scramble

If you happen to get tired of eggs, tofu is a great alternative to use some of the time. Cubed tofu cooks up great with onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, or any other type of vegetables that you would normally use in a scramble. Cook it all with some virgin coconut oil and add some curry flavor for flavorful combo.

Mushroom Egg Sandwich

Egg breakfast sandwiches are generally made with toasted English muffins, but if you’re avoiding the carbs that’s going to be a no go. What you can do is grill up some portabella mushroom caps and use those instead. The flavor and texture will be different but still very tasty and interesting which is what we want. Mushrooms are low calorie but still high in fiber.

Protein Drink

If all else fails or you’re in a real hurry, protein drinks are better than nothing when it comes to getting that morning boost.

  1. I do love my eggs but I also get tired with the fact that they are basically the only good breakfast item that isn’t full of fat and carbs

  2. The egg baked into an avocado sounds like absolute perfection to me. I am going to try that this weekend
