When it comes to relationships relative to fitness, we just had to hear what words of wisdom Rob Sulaver had to share. In case you don’t know by now (which you should), Rob Sulaver is considered by many to be one of the best trainers in the industry. He has a very different personality that almost reminds us of that wise-ass friend who always seems to be right. Naturally, that makes his a perfect candidate to answer some questions about relationships. By working with clients on a daily basis, Rob Sulaver understands what is needed to balance relationships and your commitment to being your strongest.

From friends and family to significant others, Rob Sulaver recognizes the need for a strong support system, but also feels that you shouldn’t slow yourself down hoping that others follow your goal. Rob makes a very strong statement below that we swear by: lead by example.

We get a lot of questions from our readers about friends, girlfriends, and family. Whether trying to find new ones or trying to inspire those close to you to take their health more seriously, we agree with Rob’s answers below (aside from the flex off, but maybe that would work for some of you).

Rob Sulaver on Relationships

  1. What’s your take on couples who work out together? Couples who get strong together, belong together.
  2. Do you think a guy approaching a girl at the gym is acceptable? No. Unless it’s done with total and utter smoothness.
  3. True or False: Support from a significant other is a must if you’re looking to get in better shape. True. So true.
  4. How would you recommend making friends with somebody at the gym? Having a flex off.
  5. How would you recommend encouraging family to be more health conscious without being condescending? Just lead by example. Most people need to discover its importance for themselves.
