Woman Lies To Husband That She Adopted A Tiny Dog, A Few Months Later It Turns Into A Beast

When this couple first saw this little pup they knew right at that moment that they were in love. He was adorable and cute and just so tiny and they knew that they had to adopt him. Everything was going perfectly until one day when the couple realized that everything wasn’t going the way they expected.

20. The Couple

Sue Markham and her husband, Robert, live in Gainsborough in Lincolnshire, England. Sue had worked in local kennels for most of her life and the couple resided near some kennels as well. This was where all the trouble started.

19. Love At First Sight

While working with the different dogs at the kennel, Sue first laid her eyes on a puppy named Yogi Bear. “When I saw Bear, I fell in love with him,” Sue told the Daily Mail during an interview. “[I] knew I wanted him.”

18. Adorable Dog

It’s easy to see why Sue would immediately fall in love with the adorable Yogi. He was such a tiny pup and only weighed one pound and five ounces when she laid her eyes on him. Sue knew that his dog breed wouldn’t stay in the kennel for long so she knew she had to make a decision fast…

17. Great Dane

You see, Yogi Bear was a Boston Great Dane and these puppies can grow up to be pretty huge. They can often times grow up to be 154 pounds. Sue was more than happy to take on the responsibility of such a big dog but her husband wasn’t so open-minded.

16. Heart Set

Although she knew her husband wouldn’t be happy about the idea of a huge dog in the house, Sue knew she had to adopt him. She began to work extra shifts at the kennel to be able to afford the adoption process for the dog. Finally, when she could afford Yogi Bear she brought him home and told her husband a tiny fib…

15. Little Lie

I knew Robert didn’t want a big dog,” Sue explained. “So, I told a little fib and said he was a Jack Russell.” On that condition, Robert agreed to take in the dog, as he didn’t expect Yogi to get much bigger.

14. Rob’s Thoughts

I thought a big dog would be a lot of work and could be trouble,” Robert said. “We only have a small living room. I thought, ‘How much trouble can a Jack Russell be?’” A few months passed by and Robert began to notice that Yogi was growing bigger and bigger each day.

13. 5 Months

By the time he was five months old, he was bigger than any Jack Russell he came across at the park,” Robert added. “And he had this big tongue that lolled out of his mouth and a tail like a baseball bat.” Finally, Sue had to tell the truth…

12. The Truth

Sue had no choice but to come clean to her husband about what breed of dog she had actually adopted. “It started to become fairly obvious when Bear dwarfed any other dogs in the village,” she said. “So, the game was up.”

11. Annoyed

Robert was pretty annoyed when he found out the truth about Yogi Bear, but there was nothing he could do at that point. He was already too in love with the dog to ever consider getting rid of him. When interviewed Robert only had the most wonderful things to say about Yogi.

10. Good Dog

He’s a very good-natured dog,” Robert said. “[And he has] a lot of character. So, it would be hard for anyone not to love him or be angry with him.” The family’s final decision was to, of course, keep Yogi Bear in the family and the dog has grown to an enormous size.

9. Fast Forward

Fast-forward to nine years later and Yogi Bear has grown to an astonishing size. He now weighs 210 pounds and was in need of a huge yard space in order to get the proper amount of exercise. Not only that but also this dog sure can eat a lot and you won’t believe what he has for breakfast.

8. Big Appetite

With Bear’s huge size he manages to chow down on a lot of food. His food costs the Markham’s around $257 of dog chow on a regular basis. His breakfast regularly includes four sausages sitting on top of a mountain of scrambled eggs.

7. Measurements

The dog is so huge that from nose to tail he measures at 6 feet 10 inches. Since the dog is so massive he doesn’t lounge around in typical dog pillows and beds. The Markham’s have had to make unique purchases such as a two-seater sofa.

6. Big Family

Yogi has made himself right at home with the Markham’s and he has become an integral part of their family unit. “He certainly thinks of himself as a real person,” Sue explained. “He sits on his own sofa and watches the TV with us.”

5. Bigger Family

Thanks to the love that Yogi has shown the Markham’s their family has been able to expand once more in a way they never expected. In 2014, a stray cat happened to come their way and Bear immediately fell in love with her.

4. Visitor

The stray cat, which they’ve now named Toffee, always comes to visit the house. The Markham’s, however, are aware that Toffee is not really interested in them but actually comes to see Bear as the two share a loving and unique bond.

3. Good Friends

They’re good friends,” Sue said. “Toffee is always following him around, and he will happily lick her on the head very gently. Bear sees Toffee as his own pet, I think, as she’s certainly not our cat.”

2. Lovable Giant

As you can see, Yogi Bear’s enormous size does not make him scary or intimidating. In fact, as Robert came to find out, Yogi is an absolute sweetheart and a true gentle giant. His unique relationship with Toffee shows just how caring he is.
