Will we finally see the sequel Hulk deserves?

As many fans know, The Incredible Hulk was the film that accompanied Iron Man in establishing what would now be known as the Marvel Cinematic Universe back in 2008. It was also the film that made fans forget the many bad memories Marvel had in trying to make a proper Hulk in the world of movies. Everyone thought it was doomed, though, when Edward Norton was not to reprise his role as Bruce Banner/Hulk after talks were done years ago. And the more it was thought to be doomed when Mark Ruffalo was signed on to be the green buster in The Avengers. But everyone was happy to see Ruffalo make good of the role, to the point that fans were eager to see more of Ruffalo’s version.

Despite all the good reception, Marvel’s been putting off the idea of a sequel. Marvel’s put out sequels for Iron Man, Captain America and Thor but there hasn’t been a sequel for Hulk. Even Kevin Feige, the man who’s always being consulted for everything about the MCU, has said that making Hulk sequel is a challenge since it’s not yet on the plan list to make.

But that could change. Recently, Mark Ruffalo was quoted to saying Marvel may be finally thinking of making an Incredible Hulk sequel or to put it bluntly, making a Hulk film starring him as the solo. According to him, “”I think they are, for the first time, entertaining the idea of it. When we did ‘The Avengers’ it was basically ‘No!’, and now there is some consideration for it. But there’s still nothing definitive, not even a skeletal version of what it would be. I look forward to going down that road, if we could crack that nut.” So does this mean Marvel’s going to do it and give us stories like Planet Hulk, World War Hulk or even Agents of S.M.A.S.H.? (The last one is already done as a cartoon show, but hey, a movie version is something I’d like to see).

So far, it’s not solid or confirmed but if Ruffalo is implying Marvel’s thinking about it, then all we can do is just wait and see what Marvel plans to do with the sequel if they’re going to make it. As long as we see some witty comedic moments like that time Banner woke up in his undies in some warehouse or the time when he whipped Loki like he was just a toy and said afterwards, “puny god”, I’m all good.
