The lion might be king of the jungle but the one we have got here is obsessed with only one thing and that’s blankets. Rescued as an adorable cub, he takes his blanket everywhere and there’s a very sweet reason behind such behavior.

In June 2014, A private owner bought a lion cub for his children after being inspired by watching the hit Disney movie ‘The Lion King’.
18. Named “Lambert”
The family soon realized that it isn’t legal nor safe to own a lion and contacted Global Federation of Animals Sanctuaries to find their lion cub a permanent home. The cub at this point was named as Lambert.

Vicky Keahey who is the founder of Texas’ In-Sync Exotics Wildlife Rescue and Educational Center, was asked by GFAS whether they could pick up Lambert from the family surrendering him, Keahey was more than happy to do so.
“We received a call from the Global Federation of Animals Sanctuaries (GFAS),” Keahey said. “They were contacted by a private owner who had [illegally] purchased Lambert for his 2-year-old and 3-year-old children after going to see the movie ‘The Lion King.’ The little kids told their daddy they wanted a Simba, so he went out and bought them one.”
16. Lambert finds his home
Lambert, born in captivity was as tame as a lion could be. Therefore he couldn’t be released into the wild forests. In-Sync Exotics Wildlife Rescue and Educational Center gave him a forever home to grow up in.

Lambert was never given raw meat to eat which serves as a very important nutrition source for a growing lion. Keahey had a close eye on Lambert’s diet and soon provided him with a whole new variety of food.

13. Lambert’s sleeping habits
Lambert as a cub used to live very closely with the family and even slept together with them.
“We had heard from the previous owners that he slept in the bed with the grandfather,” Keahey said.
12. The addiction of Blankets
To make Lambert more comfortable, considering his previous living conditions, Keahey offered him a blanket to use as a makeshift bed.
“I started thinking, ‘Okay, he’s used to being in a house, he’s used to sleeping in the bed with grandpa.’ So I got him a blanket, went into the enclosure and put the blanket in one of the corners. He curled up on that blanket and he went right to sleep. Ever since then, I always give him a blanket.”
11. Lambert getting more comfortable
Because of proper care from Keahey, Lambert started building up more trust on the staff and getting cozy around them.
10. Love for Blankets didn’t fade
Lambert got bigger and bigger but his love for blankets never faded. Introduced to the magical piece of cloth as a cub, he continued loving them even after turning into a big cat.
9. Carrying Blanket Along with him
Soon Lambert carrying his blanket around became a common scene.
Wherever he went, He didn’t let the blankets drop off from him.

Lambert was so attached to his blankets that he used to find it difficult to sleep if he didn’t find them around him.
