9. Helping and Staying
Officer Mears took the two with him throughout Penn Station, looking for an elevator that wasn’t broken. Officer Mears finally found one in a department store that would take them to their destination, albeit in a roundabout way. However, he didn’t just leave them in the elevator. Instead, the road down with them and led them to the proper platform for the Long Island Rail Road.
Officer Mears didn’t leave then, either. He set up a special ramp for the wheelchair so that it could safely be wheeled onto the train. This meant it was easier for Monica to get the chair up the platform and inside the train. When she turned to thank Officer Mears, she got a big surprise.
