8. Svalbard Global Seed Vault, Norway

620 miles south of the north pole and 390 feet deep under a Nordic mountain is the well known Global Seed Vault housing more than 500,000 plant species. The reason this vault was built is to keep our crops safe so we would be able to bring them back in case of any kind of global danger. The vault is resistant to earthquakes, nuclear holocaust and even safe from a sea-level rise.
