The Elephant Man
Dear me… this movie is as tragic as any. The movie tells the story of the literal Elephant Man John Merrick as he tries to live a life being the world’s only elephant man. And while he tries to live happily, well, he can’t because of what the world sees him as. He’s like an outcast. Why would this make you cry? Because really… you’re seeing someone who is nice, kind-at-heart, moral and human to be treated with disrespect and shock. He makes that famous quote in the film, “I am not an animal. I am a human being!” because he wants to be treated like us, human beings, rather than be treated as the Elephant Man. Is it really hard to ask? But damn, seeing his circumstances against yours will have you be glad you’re not him. Damn, expect tears to come down on you.
