The Green Mile

Any tragic movie list can’t be complete without this. This film tells the story of Paul Edgecomb (Tom Hanks), a death row officer who has a life-changing experience when he meets John Coffrey (Michael Clarke Duncan), a big muscled black man who was convicted of raping two girls. But Paul gets to know more about this man, he begins to witness events he never realized he would see in life. (SPOILER ALERT): You already knew right? Paul finds out John is innocent. But even then, John still got executed. It’s really quite tragic because how can an innocent man be executed? Also, the film’s opening shows an older Edgecomb cry when he watches a certain film. This gives you the reason why he cried. And damn, when you’re already accustomed to John, it’ll all come down to pieces when you see him on the chair, ready to be killed. DAMN.
