13. Appeasement Failure

Before World War 2 began, all of Europe was hoping to avoid another war. In order to do that, Britain and France decided to take on a policy of appeasement to avoid conflict. Hitler saw that he could use this policy as an advantage to himself and his plans. The policy was seen in quite a bad light after English Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain met with Hitler at Berchtesgaden. He essentially gave Hitler all of the Sudetenland without ever consulting with the Czech government. Once Hitler got what he wanted he completely dismembered Czechoslovakia.
